Is it weird to throw a Harry-Potter-themed wedding shower for a Bride that loves Harry so much?
Well, that's what I thought....at first! Until Morgan inducted me into the world of Wizardry! Together we hosted this fun themed shower for Alyssa before her big wedding day. Above is the inviation sent to friends inspired by the Daily Prophet newspaper from the movie, infused with Harry and Alyssa & Jose photographs!
Welcome to Hogwarts, school of Wizardry (aka my home). This was the entryway into the family room where the party took place. I downloaded that emblem from wikipedia and printed it out. When guests arrived they received a name tag that reflected one of the four schools within Hogwarts (just like the books). Alyssa, Morgan and I were so conveniently sorted into Gryffindor (the same "dorm" as Harry Potter and the good kids :)
Guests walked through the family room and into the kitchen where the food spread including was. Here guests could find Ware-wolf Snack (bacon-water chestnuts), Apples and dip, chips and dip, magic wands (veggie cups) and more! The entire house was dark and candles (both real and fough) lit the house for a unique night-time, cocktail encouraged bridal shower.
Morgan even made Golden Snitch cake pops for the shower. There were so many of them that we put them everywhere including the dessert table and the small table next to Alyssa where she opened gifts....so cute inside this treasure chest, huh?!
After several Google and party searches we found some fun things to mock-up around the house, including these awesome potions we put near the Drink/Cocktail station:
Above you can find Bloodworms (spaghetti noodles and sauce, Truth Serum (Vegetable Oil) and Blind Cat Eyes (Cocktail onions-i think-floating in water)
And more displayed for decor....
And here are Bat Eyes (coffee beans) and Gillyweed (weeds submerged in water). I must admit those were fun to put together.
We played a couple games that even the Bride could partake in...we made her a fun feathered pen just for her :)
It was so awesome to see Alyssa appreciate every last detail that went into this night. Morgan and I loved every minute of planning, shopping and preparing the house for a fun evening. It's all worth it when you have creative friends that know how much time and love go into the details.
Stay tuned for Part II of the Harry Potter Bridal shower coming tomorrow!

I am planning a HP shower for my sister-in-law, and would love to use your invitation - it's adorable! Did you use a template, or is it your own creation?

This is SO creative! I cannot show this to my daughter, or she'll be asking for a Harry Potter party (and her Bday isn't til next March!). Awesome details - love it!

I love Harry Potter! I had so much fun planning an HP birthday party with my daughter a few years ago! Your shower looked much more sophisticated, but still looked like a lot of fun! TFS!
