I have a fun take today, as I share with you a recent scrapbooking layout I created.
For Valentine's Day 2011 Steven bought me this fun little book, What I Love About You...
Because I keep private journals and love to write it was such a clever little gift and right up my alley. About the book....
"What I Love About You offers a fresh way to say, 'I love you.' This fill-in-the-blank book prompts you to say what is in your heart, but may not always be at teh tip of your tongue. Tell the most important person in your life just how much they mean to you by completing the scores of unique, evocative checklists, short answers, and phrases in the attractive gift book".
Many of you know that Steven is not a man of many words ;) so when he filled out the first 20-some pages of the book it was the sweetest, most romantical gift.....so, naturally, I had to scrapbook it! lol. (He's going to kill me for this post, for sure!)
Here's the layout. I photographed the book, then made it B&W, keeping the heart in color.
I loved, loved, loved this collection from Crate Paper and knew it was perfect for this...especially the lovey/text pattern along the left...fit perfectly with the book!
What you can't see yet, is the interactive accordian mini book that's part of the layout! Here's the cover of it. I concealed it's pages & content for a reason---because it's content is more private.
To reveal the mini, you have to pull the button-flower up and to the left....
Check out the accordian fold-out on the layout. Here's what I did: I scanned some of my favorite pages/hand written answers Steven put inside the book and then shrunk them down to wallet-size & printed them out. Then I cut them individually and created this accordian pull-out.
There's probably several different ways to do something like this, but I just used a strong piece of cardstock as my backer.
I loved this answer and will cherish it forever, along with the story that belongs to Steven and I forever. It's part of our story. Creating layouts like this typically take a bit more prep-work but in my opinion are 100% worth the time & effort. I love this page and everything inside it.
Finally, little did I know (or Steven) that this would be the gift that keeps on giving. To this day, the book is not complete. Therefore, each holiday/anniversary that comes around also comes with my request for Steve to complete a few more pages of question & answer. The book will be a capsule from 2011----current & future.
I just love it. See, now do you realize why I can't wait to marry this rascal?!
